Technical Definitions
Key terminology and coating types u0026mdash; and what they mean for performance, durability and maintenance.
Epoxy Coatings
is a term normally reserved to systems of high build paints dedicated to industrial, commercial and residential applications, these products are typically the top performers in corrosion protection, hardness (mechanical and abrasion resistance) and chemical resilience.
100% solids
is usually the description of coatings that once are dried, they yield the original film thickness, in contrast a 35% solids paint will dry leaving only a fraction of the original wet film thickness, losing 65% of its film thickness.
Solid Colours
refers to a single stage coating system to protect and beautify by providing plain, uniform, even colour to the floor, we call them Smart Solid.
Decorative Floors
Are flooring systems that integrate a base coat that provides the main colour, casted with pigmented PVC flakes while still wet; enhancing safety and providing extra slip resistance to the floor. The system can optionally be finished with a clear coat that seals, protects, and glaze the surface of the floor.
Waterborne Epoxy
Also known as water based epoxies are diluted coatings where 55% to 70% content is just water, they are a cheap, poor performance version of the industrial grade epoxy coatings, you are buying expensive water and floor will need intensive maintenance compared to industrial grade epoxies.
